Extension Activity – Dissemination of Technology (DoT) Meet
Event Details:
Conducted Dissemination of Technology (DoT) Meet – Week 2 (One Week One Tech) on High Value-Added Products from Miracle Tree (Moringa) to provide continuous technical guidance and handholding support.
• Explained the mandated activities of KVK.
• The presidential address was delivered by Dr. P. Sivaram, Deputy Director, CENDECT, Theni District.
• A technical session on Importance of Moringa Cultivation, High Value-Added Products from Moringa, Government Schemes Supporting Startups, Product Certification, Branding, and Market Promotion was handled by Mr. M. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Director of Horticulture, Moringa Export Service Center, TNAPEx, Madurai.
• M.Ramyasivaselvi, SMS (Home Science) delivered a technical session on the formulation and standardization of novel value-added products from moringa, sensory evaluation procedures, consumption pattern of moringa for improving nutritional security and the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA).
CFLD Biofortified Maize field visit
Event Details:
1. CFLD field visit was made to Biofortified Maize hybrid (HQPM 5) crop at Boothipuram village of Bodi Block.
2. We have recorded vegetative growth parameters and performance of biofortified maize hybrid.
3. We have identified fall army worm incidence in maize. Recommended Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 0.4 g/L of water (about 80 g/acre).
Extension functionaries training
Event Details:
1. A training programme was organised for extension functionaries including Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA), Agricultural Officers (AOs) and Assistant Agricultural Officers (AAOs) to enhance their technical knowledge on recent agriculture technologies and improved Kharif paddy cultivation technologies.
2. The programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of field-level officials for effective dissemination of recommended technologies among farmers during the Kharif season.
3. We have updated extension functionaries on recent agriculture technologies and provided technical knowledge on scientific Kharif paddy cultivation practices.
4. We have explained about the role and importance of various crop boosters in crop growth.
Extension Activity – Lecture Delivered
Event Details:
Participated in the Students' Induction Programme for first-year students organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Mother Therasa Arts & Science College, T. Sindalaicherry, Chinnamanur Block, Theni District.
• Provided an overview of the mandated activities of KVK and highlighted its role in promoting entrepreneurship development in agriculture and allied sectors.
• Handled a session on "Earn While You Learn: Startup Ideas and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Agriculture and Allied Sectors."
• Interacted with students and faculty members to discuss their family farming activities and explore potential entrepreneurial opportunities.
• Explained various startup support schemes and opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs.
• Shared the success stories of KVK promoted women entrepreneurs.
Extension Activity – Awareness program
Event Details:
Conducted an awareness programme on the importance of establishing Nutri Gardens for nutritional security, the significance of Swachh Bharat and tree plantation at the college premises.
Off campus training on “Integrated Nutrient Management in Paddy”
Event Details:
1. Conducted off campus training on "Integrated Nutrient Management in Paddy" at Melmangalam village of Periyakulam block.
2. We have given lectures on the importance of soil test-based fertilizer application, recommended doses of NPK fertilizers, integrated use of organic manures (FYM and compost), green manuring, biofertilizers and micronutrients such as zinc to the farmers.
3. Explained about benefits of Integrated Nutrient Management in improving nutrient use efficiency, reducing excessive fertilizer use, enhancing soil fertility, lowering the cost of cultivation and increasing paddy yield.
Diagnostic visit
Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Coconut and Banana at Mela Chokkanathapuram, Bodi Block.
2. We have identified the rhinoceros beetle incidence in Coconut and Sigatoka leaf spot disease in Banana.
3. We have recommended Metarhizium anisopliae fungus to compost pits and breeding sites and Installation of rhinolure pheromone traps at 1 trap per 2 hectares to attract and kill adult beetles for coconut crop.
4. Recommended spraying of Propiconazole 25 EC @ 1 ml/litre of water or Hexaconazole 5 EC @ 2 ml/litre of water for Banana.

Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Coconut and Onion at Pulikuthi Village, Chinnamanur Block.
2. We have identified the rhinoceros beetle incidence in Coconut and root rot disease in Onion.
3. We have recommended Metarhizium anisopliae fungus to compost pits and breeding sites and Installation of rhinolure pheromone traps at 1 trap per 2 hectares to attract and kill adult beetles for coconut crop.
4. Recommended drenching the root zone with Copper oxychloride 2.5 g/L or Carbendazim 1 g/L.
Group Meeting
Event Details:
Conducted a group meeting with BoDs and Members of Lavoisier Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited at FPO Office cum Sales Outlet, Theni Block.
• Discussed the business plan and development of novel value-added products from fig, cashew apple and moringa
• Explained the importance of Intellectual Property Rights, including Trademarks and Patents for innovative products.
• Provided guidance on branding, marketing strategies and maintenance of records for the FPO.
Diagnostic visit
Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Tomato, Davana and Onion crop at Anuppampatti village of Andipatty Block.
2. The following problems was during the visit. Tomato - Micronutrient deficiency, Davana - Moisture stress caused by irregular rainfall or insufficient irrigatio and Onion - Thrips infestation.
3. We have recommended following advisories to the farmers. Tomato - Foliar application of 0.5 Micronutrient mixture, Davana - Provide light and frequent irrigation, particularly during crop establishment and active vegetative growth and Onion - Spray Fipronil 5 SC @ 300 ml/acre
