FLD Follow-up Visit
Event Details:
* As part of the FLD on EDP mode on high value-added products from betelvine, a follow-up visit was conducted.
* Technical guidance and handholding support were provided to farmers on the preparation of value-added products such as betelvine extract, RTS, pomace, powder, jelly and gulkand.
* Farmers were also educated on important aspects including licensing procedures, branding, packaging, and marketing strategies to enhance product value and market reach.
FLD on EDP Mode – Method Demonstration
Event Details:
As part of the FLD on EDP mode on Value Chain Management in Banana, a demonstration on the preparation of Banana Central Core Stem (CCS) juice was carried out. The programme also covered the nutritional value and nutraceutical potential of different parts of the banana plant, including the fruit, flower, stem and leaves.
In addition, farmers were educated on various types of packaging materials, along with the importance of proper labelling, branding and licensing.
Information on relevant State and Central Government schemes supporting value addition and agri-entrepreneurship was also provided.
Programme on Intensive campaign on Balanced use of fertilizer
Event Details:
1. Conducted Off campus Programme on “Intensive campaign on Balanced use of fertilizer” to the farmers and Rural youths. Explained about the importance of soil testing for effective utilization of fertilizers and to minimize the excessive use of chemical fertilisers..
2. We have explained about Types of Farm Waste (Crop residues, animal waste, kitchen waste, agro-industrial waste), Importance of Farm Waste Recycling, Compost Preparation Method, Vermicomposting Technology, Crop Residue Management Techniques and Economic benefits of recycling farm waste to the farmers.
3. Finally, we have discussed about major problems faced by the farmers especially in coconut pests and given recommendations.
Field Visit
Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Coconut crop at Sadayalpatti village of Bodi block.
2. We have identified the micro nutrient deficiency, Rhinoceros beetle and Spiraling rugose white fly incidence. Suitable recommendations were given to the farmers.
3. Discussed about major issues faced by farmers and given remedies to the farmers.
Awareness Programme on Bhumi Suposhan
Event Details:
1. An awareness programme was conducted for farmers under the Bhumi Suposhan with a focus on organic farming, integrated farming systems, and the importance of soil testing to minimize the excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
2. Additionally, various organic manure preparation methods were explained, including vermicompost, panchagavya, jeevamrutham, ganajeevamrutham, and other liquid organic formulations.
Follow up of Skill Training
Event Details:
A group meeting was conducted under DAPSC to discuss the commercialization of bakery products, with a special focus on millets and fruit-based items. Mr. M. Arun Raj, Programme Coordinator (i/c), participated in the event and delivered a special address highlighting the importance of entrepreneurship development and its growing scope.
• Mrs. Subalakshmi, Founder of Ann’s Recipes, also took part in the session and shared her valuable experiences from the banking sector, offering practical insights to the participants. Demonstrated Palkova Cake.
• The meeting further covered key aspects such as certification, product labelling and effective marketing strategies to support small-scale entrepreneurs by SMS (Home Science)
• Earlier, a skill training program on Bakery and Confectionery Products was organized from 15.09.2025 to 18.09.2025 at the KVK premises for 21 farm women and rural youth. As an outcome of this skill training, five participants have successfully started their own bakery unit, producing items like birthday cakes, cupcakes, and brownies using millets and fruit powders.
Group Meeting under FLD on EDP Mode
Event Details:
A group meeting was conducted under FLD in EDP mode focusing on high value-added products from betelvine. Dr. P. Sivaram, Deputy Director, CENDECT, Theni, delivered the special address, emphasizing the scope and opportunities in value addition and entrepreneurship.
• A technical session was also organized, covering various high-value products derived from betelvine, including betelvine essential oil, betelvine powder, and betelvine extract for instant drink preparation and dehydration using Hybrid Solar Dryer.

1. Conducted off campus training on "INM in Banana" to the farmers.
2. We have given lecture on integrated nutrient management practices, application of vermicompost, green manuring practices, recycling of farm waste, composting technologies and usage of biofertilizers to the farmers.
3. Explained about fertigation techniques and split application of fertilizers, nutrient deficiency symptoms and corrective measures.
