Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Tomato, Davana and Onion crop at Anuppampatti village of Andipatty Block.
2. The following problems was during the visit. Tomato - Micronutrient deficiency, Davana - Moisture stress caused by irregular rainfall or insufficient irrigatio and Onion - Thrips infestation.
3. We have recommended following advisories to the farmers. Tomato - Foliar application of 0.5 Micronutrient mixture, Davana - Provide light and frequent irrigation, particularly during crop establishment and active vegetative growth and Onion - Spray Fipronil 5 SC @ 300 ml/acre
CFLD Biofortified Maize field visit
Event Details:
1. CFLD field visit was made to Biofortified Maize hybrid (HQPM 5) crop at Anuppampatti village of Andipatty Block.
2. We have recorded vegetative growth parameters and performance of biofortified maize hybrid.
3. We have identified fall army worm incidence in maize. Recommended Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 0.4 g/L of water (about 80 g/acre).
Off-Campus Training on Dairy Farming and Feeding Management
Event Details:
1. Conducted an extension training programme on scientific dairy management and nutritional management of dairy cattle.
2. Explained the importance of balanced ration formulation based on the animal’s age, body weight, physiological status, and stage of lactation.
3. Emphasized the role of green fodder, dry fodder, concentrate mixture, mineral mixture, and ad libitum clean drinking water in maintaining optimum rumen function and milk production.
4. Discussed feeding management during the transition period, early lactation, late lactation, dry period, and pregnancy.
5. Explained body condition scoring (BCS), feed conversion efficiency, and nutritional deficiency disorders affecting productivity and reproductive performance.
6. Covered preventive healthcare measures including vaccination, deworming, ectoparasite control, mastitis prevention, and biosecurity practices.
7. Addressed farmers’ queries regarding feeding schedules, reproductive management, common metabolic disorders, and disease prevention.
Follow-up Diagnostic Visit to Recovered Indigenous Cow (Lumpy Skin Disease)
Event Details:
1. Conducted a follow-up visit to an indigenous cow that had previously been affected by Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD).
2. Performed a detailed clinical examination and observed that the animal had recovered well, with no fever or active skin nodules. Healed skin lesions were noticed.
3. Assessed the cattle general health, appetite, body condition, and vital parameters, which were found to be normal.
4. Advised the farmer to provide a balanced ration consisting of quality green fodder, dry fodder, and concentrate feed along with continuous access to clean drinking water.
5. Recommended daily mineral mixture and common salt supplementation to improve immunity and support recovery.
6. Advised regular fly and mosquito control, maintenance of hygiene, and continued biosecurity measures to prevent diseases recurrence and spread
Farmers Visit to KVK
Event Details:
* Mrs.S.Murugeswari from Kailasappatti Village, Periyakulam Block, visited KVK to prepare value-added mango products.
* Technical guidance and handholding support were provided for processing 50 kg of raw Mango into Amchur and 10 kg of Mango fruit into mango leather at KVK Food Processing Incubation Centre.
* She had participated in the Skill Training on Value Addition in Mango on 26.06.2026 and 27.06.2026 at the KVK premises.
Skill Training
Event Details:
Conducted a Skill Training Programme on Value Addition in Mango at the KVK premises.
• Provided an overview of KVK mandated activities and services.
• Delivered a technical session on recent trends in the food processing sector, emphasizing the importance of food processing, post-harvest management and value addition of locally available seasonal fruits.
• Demonstrated Amchur, Mango Leather, Protein-Enriched Mango Bar, Mango Halwa and Mango Pickle and Thokku.
• Explained the procedures for licensing, branding, packaging, marketing strategies and various Government schemes available for food processing entrepreneurs.
• Shared success stories of KVK promoted entrepreneurs to motivate the participants.
• Distributed technology pamphlets and participation certificates to all trainees.
• Conducted pre- and post-training assessments and collected participant feedback.
• Created awareness about the Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign among the participants.
One day workshop on Natural farming/balanced use of fertilizer under Khet Bachao Abhiyan
Event Details:
1. Organised one day workshop on Natural farming/balanced use of fertilizer under Khet Bachao Abhiyan awareness programme at KVK Premises.
2. We have created awareness about the principles and practices of natural farming and educated farmers on the importance of balanced and integrated nutrient management.
3. Promoted soil health improvement through sustainable agricultural practices and encouraged efficient use of fertilizers based on crop requirements and soil test recommendations.
4. We have explained preparation and use of natural farming inputs such as Jeevamrutham, Beejamrutham and other bio-inputs to the farmers.
5. We have given a lecture on the role of organic manures and biofertilizers in improving soil fertility.
6. Created awareness among farmers about the importance of green manuring in improving soil fertility, reducing chemical fertilizer usage and enhancing sustainable agricultural production.
Extension functionaries training
Event Details:
1. A training programme was organised for extension functionaries including Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA), Agricultural Officers (AOs) and Assistant Agricultural Officers (AAOs) to enhance their technical knowledge on Direct Paddy Sowing (DPS) methods and improved Kharif paddy cultivation technologies.
2. The programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of field-level officials for effective dissemination of recommended technologies among farmers during the Kharif season.
3. We have updated extension functionaries on recent advancements in direct paddy sowing techniques and provided technical knowledge on scientific Kharif paddy cultivation practices.
4. We have given improved field-level advisory services for farmers and promoted water-saving and cost-effective paddy production technologies.
Awareness programme on Balanced use fertilizer
Event Details:
1. Organised awareness programme on Balanced use fertilizer at Melmangalam village of Periyakulam block.
2. We have created awareness about balanced nutrient management in banana cultivation and educated farmers on the importance of soil testing-based fertilizer application.
3. We have promoted efficient use of major and micronutrients for improving crop growth and yield.
4. Advised reduces excessive and imbalanced use of chemical fertilizers.
5. We have encouraged adoption of integrated nutrient management practices during this programme.
Scientist Visit
Event Details:
Scientist visit was made to Mushroom Production Unit at Odaipatti Town Panchayat, Chinnamanur Block, to provide need-based technical guidance and handholding support to mushroom entrepreneur.
• Technical advice was provided on value-added mushroom products, preparation of Detailed Project Report and various Government schemes available for expansion of mushroom production and value addition enterprises.
• Guidance was also given on improving production efficiency, enterprise development and market opportunities for mushroom-based products.
