Event Details: 

Conducted Swachh Bharat Mission awareness programme at Sannasipuram, Anaikaraipatti Panchayat, Bodinayakkanur Block
• Explained the importance of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and the significance of tree plantation for environmental sustainability.
• The Swachhta pledge was taken by all the women for emphasizing cleanliness, hygiene and community responsibility.

Scientist Visit

Event Details: 

Visited Kapok fiber processing field at Sollaiyur Tribal Colony, Anaikaraipatti Gram Panchayat and interacted with farmers on drudgery reduction practices in Kapok processing.
• Explained improved methods for pod breaking, fiber-seed separation (ginning process), fiber cleaning and packing techniques aimed at reducing physical strain, saving time and labour, improving product quality and ensuring better health and safety during processing operations.

Conducted diagnostic visit to goat unit

Event Details: 

1. Examined the health condition of goat and observed symptoms such as intense itching, rubbing against objects, patchy wool loss, scabs, thickened skin and suggested Ivermectin injection (0.2 mg/kg, repeat after 14 days), topical application of acaricides , supplementation of mineral mixture
2. Deworming done to sheep and goat to prevent endoparasitic (cestodes and nematodes) infection

 

Diagnostic Field Visit

Event Details: 

1. We have made a diagnostic visit to Coccinia and Grapes Field at Odaippati Village

2. Identified the incidence of sucking pests such as aphids and white fly in Coccinia field and powddery mildew, uneven berry development and nutritional deficiency symptom observed in grapes

3. Necessary technical advisories provided to farmers for effective management of pest, disease and nutrient- related problems in coccinia and grapes

An awareness campaign on balanced use of fertilizers was conducted at Kamarajapuram village, Bodi block
- Explained about the importance of soil, Irrigation water testing and INM practices to improve the soil health management.
- Created awareness about balanced nutrient application, soil test-based fertilizer recommendation, reduce excessive use of chemical fertilizers, improve soil fertility and crop productivity through various activities.

Diagnostic field visit

1. Field visit was made to Banana crop at Sadayalpatti village of Bodi block.

2. We have identified micro nutrient deficiency problem in banana and suitable recommendations were given to the farmers.

3. Also, we have explained about bio control application methods and usage in banana crop.

Event Details: 

CConducted Method Demonstration on Pickles/Thokku from GI Tagged Cumbum Paneer Grapes (Muscat Hamburg) at KVK Premises.
• Explained the five-point hedonic scale for sensory evaluation, nutraceutical potential of grapes, suitable packaging materials and labelling procedures for value-added products.
• Technical guidance was provided on shelf-life improvement, branding and market opportunities for grape pickle/thokku products to promote rural entrepreneurship.
• Participants gained practical exposure on processing techniques, product standardization and hygienic handling practices for grape-based value-added products.

Conducted diagnostic visit to dairy unit

Event Details: 

1.Examined the health condition of cow and observed restlessness, inability to stand and reduced appetite, cold Extremities and cow calved 1day before and placenta was expelled out normally after 18 hrs of parturition
2 Diagnosed as milk fever based on history Treated with 500ml 25% calcium borogluconate intravenously with some supportive therapy by infusing DNS 5%, 1liter IV, Inj. Tribivet 10 ml, IV and Inj. Avil 10 ml, IV. Also advice the owner to give jaggery to the cow daily for 3 days
3.Enquired about field level problems in dairy animals regarding milk production and reproductive problems

Skill Training

Event Details: 

Conducted Skill Development Training Programme on Value Addition in Moringa at the KVK premises.
• Mr. M. Arun Raj, Programme Coordinator (i/c), welcomed the gathering and explained the mandated activities of KVK.
• The presidential address was delivered by Dr. P. Sivaram, Deputy Director, CENDECT, Theni.
• Dr. V. Karthik Pandi, SMS (Plant Protection), explained the importance of rural enterprises in agriculture and allied sectors.
• Mr. C. Sabarinathan, SMS (Agricultural Extension), elaborated on marketing strategies for value-added agricultural products.
• A technical session was conducted on post-harvest management in moringa, processing techniques and preparation of value-added products from moringa leaves, flowers, seeds, and drumsticks.
• Demonstration of dehydrated moringa leaves, drumstick and flower products, moringa seed oil, moringa leaf powder, moringa multi-nutrient nutri balls, moringa leaves thokku, and moringa soup mix.
• Participants were also sensitized on licensing procedures, packaging, branding and labelling of value-added products.
• Pre- and post-evaluation of the skill training programme was conducted, followed by feedback and certificate distribution to the participants.
