Event Details:
1. Conducted Off campus Programme on “Intensive campaign on Balanced use of fertilizer” to the farmers and Rural youths.
2. Explained about the importance of soil and water testing for effective utilization of fertilizers, Irrigation water and to minimize the excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
3. We have explained about Types of Farm Waste (Crop residues, animal waste, kitchen waste, agro-industrial waste), Importance of Farm Waste Recycling, Compost Preparation Method, Vermicomposting Technology, Crop Residue Management Techniques and Economic benefits of recycling farm waste to the farmers.
Distribution Technology Input under DAPSC
Event Details:
• Distribution of Pepper ladder to Agamalai Spices FIG members under DAPSC
• Conducted a technical session on pepper harvesting using Aluminum unipole ladder, along with guidance on processing and safe storage methods to improve shelf life.
• Provided an overview of licensing procedures, branding, labeling, packaging materials, and effective marketing strategies.
Monthly Entrepreneurs Meet
Event Details:
• The Monthly Entrepreneurs Meet was conducted to provide regular technical guidance and handholding support for promoting organic farming and agri-entrepreneurship.
• The program started with an inaugural address by Mr. M. Arun Raj, Programme Coordinator (i/c), KVK Theni, followed by a presidential address by Dr. P. Sivaram, Deputy Director, CENDECT, Theni.
• Dr.V. Karthikpandi, SMS (Plant Protection), explained about mushroom cultivation and methods for preparing bio-inputs.
• A technical session on innovative technologies in spices was also conducted, where different spices, uses and value-added products and also explained the procedures for MSME ZED Certification by M.Ramyasivaselvi, SMS (Home Science).
• An exhibition was also organized to showcase products developed by KVK-supported entrepreneurs, such as different types of banana powder, dates powder, amchur powder, tomato powder, betel vine drink, grape pomace pickle, and nutri balls.
Awareness Programme as part of “Bhumi Suposhan”
Event Details:
1. Conducted Off campus Programme on “Bhumi Suposhan” to the farmers, Youths and Farm women’s. Explained about the importance of bio inputs, effective utilization of Nutrients and to minimize the excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
2. We have explained about Types of bio inputs and Farm Waste (Crop residues, animal waste, kitchen waste, agro-industrial waste), Importance of Farm Waste Recycling, Compost Preparation Method, Vermicomposting Technology, Crop Residue Management Techniques and Economic benefits of recycling farm waste to the farmers.
3. Finally, we have discussed about Schemes and farmers welfare activity by state and central Governments.
Extension Activity-Exposure Visit
Event Details:
Exposure visit was organized to learn the activities and schemes of the Agricultural Marketing and Agribusiness Department.
• A group meeting was conducted with the Deputy Director (Agricultural Marketing) to gain insights into various schemes and procedures, including e-NAM and the sales outlet for FPOs at the Theni Farmers Market.
• Visited the Agricultural godown, Coconut Auction Unit and AGMARK certification process for FPO products.
• The TANU Copra Guard, a nanotechnology-based product, was explained for its role in preventing fungal growth on coconut copra during storage
Field Visit
Event Details:
1. Field visit was made to Coconut , Guava village of Theni block.
2. We have identified the Coconut micro nutrient deficiency, Rhinoceros beetle, and Spiraling rugose white fly incidence and Suitable recommendations were given to the farmers.
3. Visited Mushroom shed and given ideas for Mushroom cultivation technology to the farmers.
4. Organic input preparation of Panchakavya, Fish amino acids to given ideas to the farmers.
5.Discussed about major issues faced by farmers and given remedies to the farmers.
Awareness Programme on “Bhumi Suposhan”
Event Details:
1. Conducted awareness program on Bhumi Suposhan at Ponnampadugai Village of Kadamalaigundu Block.
2. Explained about restoring soil health, promoting balanced nutrient management and encouraging eco-friendly farming practices to the farmers.
3. The awareness campaign conducted with aimed at improving soil fertility, productivity, and sustainability in agriculture.
Awareness Programme on “Bhumi Suposhan”
Event Details:
* As part of the FLD on EDP mode on high value-added products from betelvine, a follow-up visit was conducted.
* Technical guidance and handholding support were provided to farmers on the preparation of value-added products such as betelvine extract, RTS, pomace, powder, jelly and gulkand.
* Farmers were also educated on important aspects including licensing procedures, branding, packaging, and marketing strategies to enhance product value and market reach.
Farmers Visit to KVK
Event Details:
Explained about importance of organic inputs in improving soil health, reducing chemical fertilizer usage, and enhancing crop productivity to the farmers. Following topics were covered during this visit.
1. Selection of suitable earthworm species such as Eisenia fetida
2. Preparation of vermibeds
3. Use of farm waste, crop residues and animal dung as raw materials
4. Preparation of azolla beds using silpauline sheets
5. Nutrient management using cow dung and super phosphate
6. Maintenance of water level and partial shade
7. Harvesting techniques and daily feeding practices for livestock
Awareness Programme on Bhumi Suposhan
Event Details:
1. An awareness programme was conducted for farmers, farm women and youths under the Bhumi Suposhan with a focus on importance of soil testing, water testing to minimize the excessive use of inputs viz., Chemical fertilisers, Water based crop cultivation.
2. Additionally, various organic products were explained, including Azolla cultivation, vermicompost, panchagavya, jeevamrutham, ganajeevamrutham, and protected cultivation.
3. Explained about organic manures, green manuring practices, paddy straw incorporation methods, importance and role of biofertilizers to the farmers.
