• Overview of KVK mandated activities, recent trends in value addition in food processing and its scope
• Handled a technical session on value addition in Drumstick, Drumstick leaves, Flowers, Seeds, nutritive value, functional and Nutraceutical components, health benefits of Moringa, consumption pattern of Green Leafy Vegetables, Fruits and other vegetables to meet out RDA - (Recommended Dietary Allowances)
• Highlighted the development of high value added products- moringa seed oil production and its uses in food and cosmetic sectors.
• Explained the certification procedures for FSSAI, MSME Udyam, ZED, AGMARK, branding, packaging, labelling and marketing strategies.

1. Participated in Kisan kosthi programme at Sankarapuram village of Chinnamanur block organized by Dept. Of Agriculture.2. Lecture delivered on ICM in Maize under rainfed condition and importance of bio fertilizers to the farmers.

3. Also, we have explained about various Central and State government agriculture schemes to the farmers.

Visited Newly started oil production unit by Andipatti Flower Company Private Limited, Theni District, TN
• Provided technical advisories on selection of raw materials, storage techniques, processing methods, licensing procedures – FSSAI, Udyam, ZED, AGMARK, labelling and Marketing through e NAM.
• Discussed novel products from locally available GLVs, Vegetables and Flowers.

Event Details:   

1. Field visit was made to Maize and Cotton crop at Mallayagoundampatti village of Theni block.

2. We have identified the fall army worm and sucking pest incidence in this visit.

3. We have recommended following advisory services. Maize fall army worm - Spraying of chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 200ml/ha, Sucking pest - Imidacloprid 17.8% SL 40 - 50 ml per acre.

Organized skill training on Development of High value-added products from Grapes as part of FLD
• Inaugural address was given by Mr.P.Maheswaran, Program Co-ordinator (i/c) and highlighted the importance of KVK mandated activities for dissemination of latest Agricultural and allied technologies
• The program was presided over by Dr.P.Patchaimal, Chairman, KVK Theni
• Special addresses were given by Mr.C.Sankaranarayan, Assistant Director and Mr.Subramaniyan, SIC, DIC, Theni on various schemes and subsides of DIC.
• Technical Session on Post Harvest Management and Value Addition in Grapes was handled by Mrs.M.Ramyasivaselvi, SMS (Home Science), KVK Theni
• Highlighted the nutritional value, functional and nutraceutical potential of grapes and uses of grapes by products in food and cosmetic industries.
• Explained about recent grape processing machineries and its uses.
• Demonstrated grape pulp, grape RTSs, grape jam, grape jelly, dry grapes, grapes instant mix, grape pomace, grape skin powder, grape seed powder and explained seed oil extraction procedures.
• Success story on dry grapes production was shared by KVK promoted women entrepreneur Mrs.V.Rajani, Amutha Surabi Food Products, PC Patti, Theni
• Explained Branding, licensing, packaging, labelling and marketing procedures.

Event Details:   

1. Mobilized farmers of Theni district to the agricultural expo at TNAU Coimbatore.
2. Farmers were Exposed to various stalls on new varieties, technologies , demonstrations, agricultural machineries and equipment and dairy equipment.
3. Farmers collected information and pamphlets from various stalls and gained knowledge on the updated technology in agriculture.
4. Farmers interacted with the scientists in the TNAU stall and got cleared with the queries pertaining to agriculture.
