Event Details: 

1. Organized a Parthenium awareness week programme at T. Bomminaickenpatti village of Andipatty block.

2. Created awareness among students and rural communities about the harmful effects of Parthenium.

3. During the programme, participants were sensitized about the identification, distribution and harmful effects of Parthenium on agricultural crops, livestock, human health and the environment.

4. The participants were also educated on timely uprooting before flowering and seed setting, safe disposal of uprooted plants, use of suitable herbicides where appropriate and adoption of biological and cultural management practices.

Event Details: 

Organized the World Entrepreneurs Day cum Entrepreneurs Meet at the KVK premises.
• The inaugural address was given by M. Arunraj, Programme Coordinator (i/c), highlighted the mandated activities of KVK and emphasized the significance of World Entrepreneurs Day in recognizing the hard work, creativity, innovation and leadership of entrepreneurs.
• Mr. M. Kalibur Rahman, Assistant Director, Divisional Office, KVIC, Madurai, given the special address and explained the Honey Mission activities, achievements and entrepreneurial opportunities available for farmers.
• Mr. Radhakrishnan, Customer Service Associate, Union Bank of India, Seepalakottai Branch, Chinnamanur Block, explained the various agricultural and livestock financing schemes available for farmers and rural entrepreneurs.
• M. Ramyasivaselvi, SMS (Home Science), handled a technical session on the importance of packaging materials, labelling procedures, and the creation of marketing linkages for value-added products.
• Created awareness on financial literacy and various State and Central Government schemes through Mr. Velusamy and Mr. Srimurugan, Counsellors, Financial Literacy Centres (FLCs), Canara Bank and Tamil Nadu Grama Bank, Theni.
• Dr.R.Dhivyadharshini, PA (Animal Science), explained entrepreneurship development opportunities in the livestock sector and the scope for establishing sustainable livestock-based enterprises.
• Six entrepreneurs from the Agriculture and Allied Sectors were honoured for their outstanding entrepreneurial contributions in Vermicompost Production, Sericulture, Mushroom Production, Value Addition in Grapes, Value Addition in Millets, and Animal Husbandry.
• An exhibition of value-added products developed by KVK-promoted entrepreneurs was organized, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, product promotion, networking, and exploring marketing opportunities among the participants.

3. During the programme, participants were sensitized about the identification, distribution and harmful effects of Parthenium on agricultural crops, livestock, human health and the environment.

Event Details: 

1. Conducted off campus training on "Integrated Nutrient Management" at Kathirnarasingapuram village of Andipatty block.

2. We have a lecture on soil sampling and soil-test-based fertilizer recommendations. The importance of FYM, compost, green manure, vermicompost and crop residues in improving soil organic matter and nutrient availability was explained.

3. The role and methods of application of biofertilizers such as Azospirillum, Phosphobacteria and potassium-solubilizing microorganisms were also discussed.

4. A special awareness session was conducted on El Niño and its implications for agriculture

Event Details: 

Organized the DoT Meet on Amla-Carrot Mouth Freshener Technology
• Provided an overview of the mandated activities of KVK and highlighted the major extension and technology dissemination initiatives.
• A special address was given by Dr. P. Revathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Science and Technology, Arul Anandar College, Madurai District. She emphasized the importance of post-harvest management and value addition, food fortification and nutritional enrichment.
• Handled a technical session on description of the technology, required raw materials, machinery and equipment, preparation process and procedure of amla-carrot mouth freshener, product quality specifications, cost economics, usage, safety and quality considerations, advantages of the technology and its scope for commercialization.
• Explained the importance of packaging, labelling, certification and Govt. schemes.

Event Details: 

1. Created awareness about the parthenium and explained the impacts on human and animal health as well as crop yields.
2. Explained about the various management measures including physical, chemical and biological Methods and conversation of invasive weed Parthenium into compost.
4. Distributed leaflet about Parthinieum Control.

4.Harmful effects of parthenium on human, animal and environment were explained

Event Details: 

1. CFLD field visit was made to Biofortified Maize hybrid (HQPM 5) crop at Boothipuram village of Bodi Block.

2. We have recorded vegetative growth parameters and performance of biofortified maize hybrid.

3. We have identified fall army worm incidence in maize. Recommended Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 0.4 g/L of water (about 80 g/acre).

Event Details: 

1.Conducted a CFLD Groundnut Seed Distribution Programme for farmers and farm women at the KVK premises.

2.Providing knowledge about improved groundnut cultivation practices, including quality seed selection, seed treatment, optimum spacing, nutrient management and efficient water management.

3.Delivered a lecture on Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPM & IDM) in Groundnut and emphasized the adoption of need-based plant protection measures.

4.Discussed the major problems faced by farmers in groundnut cultivation and provided suitable technical recommendations and remedial measures.

5.Finally, CFLD groundnut seeds were distributed to the selected farmers from Silamalai village to promote the adoption improved varieties and scientific cultivation practices for enhancing productivity and farm income.

Event Details: 

1. Conducted on-campus training programme on formation and management of Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) for farmers and farm women at the KVK premises.
2. Created awareness among the participants on the importance, objectives and benefits of forming Farmers Interest Groups for collective action and strengthening farming activities.
3. Delivered a lecture on formation, registration, group structure, leadership and effective management of Farmers Interest Groups.
4. Discussed the importance of collective input procurement, adoption of improved technologies, knowledge sharing, value addition, collective marketing and better market linkages through FIGs.
5. The participants were sensitized on group dynamics, record maintenance, financial management, decision-making and sustainable functioning of Farmers Interest Groups.
